One World Running has spots open for its upcoming service trip to Cuba, Feb. 9-16, 2017. Explore remote trails, historic towns and support the running community by helping out at the La Farola running race.
The trip is centered around volunteering at the 7th annual La Farola Run, in Baracoa originally organized to help celebrate the 500th anniversary of the city in 2011. One World Running will distribute shoes, t-shirts, bib numbers and awards to roughly 200 of the best Cuban runners, who come from all over the country to compete over the hilly 34 kilometer course along “La Farola”.
Volunteers will also get a chance to explore the historic city of Baracoa, as well as Santiago de Cuba, where Teddy Roosevelt led the Rough Riders up San Juan Hill in this decisive battle of the Spanish–American War.
$2450 includes RT airfare from Miami, and internal island flights, lodging, transfers, breakfasts and most dinners. Visit Santiago de Cuba and Barbacoa. The trip is licenced and guided by experts who have been to Cuba many times before.
